Synoptic Water Quality Survey of Halifax Regional Municipality and Area Lakes

(Friday, March 24/2000)-- Lakes within Halifax Regional Municipality will be tested for water quality on Tuesday, March 28th. If the weather is inclement, testing will be on Wednesday, March 29th..

Some water samples will be taken by helicopter, so citizens are urged not to be alarmed if they notice a helicopter landing on a lake in their area.

There are a few lakes in built-up areas that will be sampled by boat. These include: Chocolate Lake, Whimsical Lake, Frog Pond, Power Pond, Maynard Lake, Oathill Lake, Penhorn Lake, Big Albro Lake, Little Abro Lake, Bell Lake, Settle Lake, and Cranberry Lake.

Halifax Regional Police, Police, RCMP and the Halifax Regional Water Commission have been contacted regarding this testing program.
