1st Annual Bike to Work Week to be Held

(Wednesday, September 6/2000)-- Details of events associated with the Halifax Regional Municipality's first annual "Bike to Work Week" campaign will be outlined at a news conference tomorrow morning.

Councillor Sheila Fougere, chair of the HRM Bikeways Task Force, said the primary goals of the campaign are to promote the benefits of cycling and to raise local awareness of cycling issues among businesses and individuals.

Participants in the week-long event will be required to commit to cycle from one to five days during the week of September 11-15. Individuals will be eligible for prizes.
