Tree Branch, Limb Pick-Up Continuing

(Thursday, December 5/2002)-- The clean-up of fallen tree branches and limbs from the November 7th storm is continuing, but recent freezing conditions have been hampering collection of the materials.

As a result of the recent cold weather, residents are encouraged to properly prepare the branches for collection.

All branches and limbs from privately-owned trees must be cut into four-foot lengths (1.2 metres) and tied into bundles no more than eight inches (20 cm.) in diameter. Two bundles are eligible for pick-up every green cart collection day (i.e. every second week).

If trees or branches from HRM-owned trees have fallen on private property, residents are asked to place the debris between the curb and sidewalk and municipal crews will pick up the materials. Fallen trees and branches from trees located on private property are the responsibility of the property owner.
