New All-Season Turf Field to be Constructed

(Tuesday, May 20/2003)-- Mayor Peter Kelly and local Councillors will officially "kick off" the start of construction on a new all-weather artificial turf playing field on the Mainland Commons in Clayton Park on Friday.

It is understood this new facility will be one of the top five installations in the world using this Field Turf product.

Turf Masters Landscaping Limited has been awarded a $2.l Million tender to design and construct a double-size artificial field. Soccer Nova Scotia has committed to contribute $150,000 towards the construction of the project.

The artificial field is expected to be completed in July 2003.

When: Friday, May 23/2003

Where: Take Lacewood Drive to Regency Drive (near the new Keshen Goodman Library) and then follow Thomas Raddall Drive to site, which is adjacent to Soccer Nova Scotia building and near campus of new Halifax West High School.
