HRM Seeking Public Input on Facilities Master Plan

(Monday, November 10/2003)-- Halifax Regional Municipality plans to host a series of public information meetings to encourage citizen input into its Indoor Recreation Facility Master Plan project.

The purpose of the planning project is to identify the recreational facility requirements of the municipality, prioritize them and chart out a financial and operational approach to their delivery.

The master plan will enable HRM to effectively map out where new indoor recreation facilities should be maintained and/or reconditioned, and where new facilities must be built to accommodate needs for the next 15 years. The methodology used will create a framework for decision-making, in order to address unforseen challenges and opportunities as they arise.

There will be plenty of opportunity for citizen input as Bob Nauss, Regional Coordinator for Recreation, Tourism & Culture, along with Peter Bigelow, Real Property Planning Manager, host the series of public consultation meetings throughout the municipality.

Members of the general public are invited to attend any of the following meetings, to be held from 7pm - 8:30pm:
