Councillor Apologizes for Safety Error

(Thursday, March 2/06)-- Councillor Dawn Sloane has joined with Mayor Peter Kelly in apologizing to the public for failing to wear a safety helmet and proper protective equipment while riding on a skate board at a public event yesterday.

Both attended a ceremony on the Halifax Common on Wednesday to accept a contribution from a skate board manufacturer, West 49, towards the cost of a new skate board park on the Commons.

Councillor Sloane said she hadn’t expected to ride the skate board at the event, but when the boards appeared she couldn’t resist and hopped on without thinking “Safety First.”
