HAVE YOUR SAY ON MAIN STREET’S FUTURE

News Release

(Thursday, June 15, 2006) Councillor Andrew Younger (East Dartmouth – The Lakes) is encouraging people to go online and have their say on the future of Dartmouth’s Main Street Business District. A successful public meeting was held last week to discuss opportunities to improve pedestrian use and the overall business climate in the area. The study area includes Main Street between Caledonia Road and the Mic Mac Parclo, as well as Tacoma Drive.

“We want to hear as many voices as possible, from shoppers, to business owners, to the people who use the street as a commuter corridor on their way to other areas of HRM,” says Councillor Younger. “The first public meeting clearly showed residents are excited about this project and the possibilities for the future.”

The survey can be found at http://www.halifax.ca/districts/dist06/ and takes about 10 minutes to complete. The results of this survey will be used in combination with the comments of the project steering committee and comments at the public meetings. The end result of the study will be a series of recommendations for Regional Council to consider in planning documents and future budgets
