Herring Cove Road Part of Community Clean-Up

(Tuesday, November 7/06) – Mayor Peter Kelly and Councillors Linda Mosher and Stephen Adams will join more than 200 residents, business owners and corporate partners at South Centre Mall on Thursday to show their commitment to a clean, graffiti-free community.

This is the second community clean-up event as part of HRM’s new Graffiti Management Plan. The target area stretches from Armdale to Spryfield, along the Herring Cove Road.

A vibrant mural painted by local youth to express how they feel about their community will be unveiled by the youth and HRM mural artist, Kate MacLennan. The mural was created as part of the Community Art Pilot Project, an initiative of the Graffiti Management Plan.
HRM’s Community Response Team, in partnership with Spryfield Business Commission, will host a graffiti information session for local businesses.
Nova Scotia Power, Aliant and Canada Post will participate through a coordinated day-long clean-up of graffiti from their street installations, while HRM staff target municipally- owned assets along Herring Cove Road.

HRM urges residents, business owners and school children to participate and clean-up around their homes, businesses and schools as part of a community “Fall 20-Minute Make Over”. Participants will gather at South Centre Mall at noon for a community barbeque.
