PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Long Beach Opens to Swimmers

(Friday, August 10/07) - Long Pond Beach, in the Spryfield area, has re-opened to swimmers this afternoon after being closed last week due to water quality issues.

Two HRM beaches remain closed at this time including Springfield Beach, located on Springfield Lake in Sackville, and Kinsman Beach on First Lake in Sackville. Regular testing performed by the Nova Scotia Department of the Environment at HRM’’s supervised beaches showed high bacteria levels in the water in these lakes.

HRM thanks the public for its cooperation and apologizes for any inconvenience.

For further information on HRM Beach conditions, the public can call 490-5458.
For information regarding water quality issues, inquiries should be addressed to the Nova Scotia Department of the Environment.
