Councillor Krista Snow Upset over Air Canada Decision

(Tuesday, July 15, 2008) - Councillor Krista Snow, District 2, Waverley/Fall River/Beaver Bank, is upset over the recent Air Canada decision to close its flight attendant base in Halifax in November.

"It is disconcerting to the business sector that Air Canada would take such action," says Councillor Snow. "This decision has serious implications to business in Atlantic Canada. As elected representatives, we must ensure that the future growth of our region is not stunted by such short-sighted decision making."

Councillor Snow is amazed that Air Canada would make this decision since HRM is the largest city east of Quebec City and she would not want HRM to become a commuter community for air shuttle. She hopes that Air Canada is not using the increasing cost of fuel as their reason for downsizing operations in HRM.

"As Councillor for District 2, which includes the Halifax Stanfield International Airport, I feel I must voice my concerns regarding this decision," says Councillor Snow. "Shame on you, Air Canada and any government leaders who would allow this to happen."
