Public Gardens opens for season Thursday, May 7th, 2009

(Wednesday, April 29, 2009)- Spring is here at last, and the Halifax Public Gardens will officially open to the public for the season starting Thursday, May 7th, 2009.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy the splendor of the Halifax Public Gardens. HRM staff have worked all winter preparing the Gardens for their Spring debut: come on your lunch hour and enjoy the tulips; plan to attend the Summer Concert Series for free open-air concerts from the bandstand; walk through the newly-restored Horticultural Hall... from the wrought iron main gates to Griffin's Pond, there's something for everyone to enjoy at the Public Gardens.
(Visitors to the Public Gardens are reminded not to feed the ducks because it can make them dependent on a human-provided food supply and interfere with their natural migratory patterns in the Fall and Spring.)
