Immediate open air burning ban issued

(Wednesday, August 19, 2009) - Due to the recent extremely hot and dry weather conditions, Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency has ordered a complete ban on all open air fires, effective immediately. This ban includes all open air fires, backyard camp fires, and all outdoor solid fuel burning appliances (ex: Chimineas). This ban will be in effect until further notice.

"The current heat wave has left the woods extremely dry and the potential for a fire is high until we receive significant amounts of rain fall," said Deputy Chief Director Roy Hollett.
