Bloomfield Master Plan Enters Next Phase

(Wednesday, July 14, 2010) – HRM has taken another step forward in the redevelopment of the former Bloomfield School site with a Request For Proposals (RFP) being issued Tuesday for consulting services for Phase One of the redevelopment project.

HRM is seeking consulting services to research management models for the Bloomfield property and to develop a framework for soliciting, evaluating and selecting development, along with nonprofit and community partners for the Bloomfield project. Proposals will be accepted by the HRM Procurement Office until August 13, 2010. The RFP is available for download at: http://www.halifax.ca/procurement/tenders3.asp#

“This is a terrific opportunity to breathe new life into a site that has always held a special place in the hearts of this community,” said Halifax North End Coun. Jerry Blumenthal. “I look forward to seeing the bloom put back in Bloomfield.”

On September 8, 2009 Regional Council adopted the Bloomfield Master Plan for the redevelopment of the site. The Plan establishes broad concepts for the site’s development including urban design, and a combination of economically feasible uses that are supported by the community.
