(Wednesday, September 8, 2010) Halifax, NS - Metro Transit has teamed up with the 2010 Nova Scotia International Air Show being held in Shearwater this year to provide air show enthusiasts with a green transportation alternative.

Special shuttle service will be offered to the Shearwater air show site on both days of the show; Saturday, September 11 and Sunday, September 12, 2010. Beginning at 8:40 am, special shuttles will depart from the Bridge Terminal at the Dartmouth Sportsplex, every 15 minutes until 2:55 pm. The shuttle will service stops located at Alderney Landing, 5 Corners (Portland St. /Pleasant St.), and the Woodside Ferry Terminal, before continuing to the air show site in a special “Transit Only” lane, bypassing regular vehicular traffic.

Shuttle service returning from the air show site on both days will begin at 9:05 am, every 15 minutes until 6:20 pm.

Regular transit fares will apply. Park & Rides are located at both Alderney Landing and the Woodside Ferry Terminal, with the Woodside lot offering free parking on the weekend. The Bridge Terminal serves as a convenient transfer point for many other transit routes feeding into the area where the Air Show Shuttle will originate from. Everyone taking Metro Transit’s special shuttle will be offered a “Green Ticket” price per day by air show organizers on arrival at Shearwater as follows:

-Adult (18 - 59 years): $15
-Youth (6 - 17 years): $10
-Senior (60+): $10
-Children Under 6: FREE (must be accompanied by an adult)

NOTE: Green Ticket air show discounts will only be issued to those arriving by bus through the transit gate and purchasing tickets on site. This offer cannot be combined with any other discounted ticket offer.
