HRM Hosting Family New Year’s Eve Celebrations on the Canada Games Oval

(December 23, 2010) HRM is inviting everyone to enjoy a Family New Year's Eve at the Canada Games Oval on the North Common on December 31, 2010.

There will be fun for all, including skating on the oval, ECMA Award-winning band entertainers Razzamatazz, fireworks, an early New Year’s Eve countdown and music by DJ Skratch Bastid as well as the Telfer Band.

The “A” New Year’s Eve entertainment taking place in Grand Parade will be broadcast on site onto a big screen so those at the Oval can enjoy the traditional annual event as well.

Skating will run until midnight so skaters can welcome in the New Year on the “Big Ice” on the Common.

Schedule of Events:

5:30 pm DJ Skratch Bastid
6:30 pm to 7:25 pm Children's Event - Razzamatazz
7:25 pm to 7:30 pm Fireworks
7:30 pm Music by the Telfer Band and DJ Skratch Bastid

Those attending are reminded that the fireworks will be shot from the North Common Field #7 for approximately five minutes. Pedestrian access through the North Common will be restricted in this area prior to and following the fireworks display.
