Military to Use Commons As Part of Exercise

(Wednesday, February 2/05)-- The Princess Fusiliers will be conducting a military exercise within the Halifax Regional Municipality this weekend.

Halifax Regional Council has approved a request from the military to land helicopters to be used in the exercise on the Halifax Commons, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., this coming Saturday and Sunday (February 5-6). The aircraft will be transporting troops from the Halifax Commons to Shannon Park, where they will conduct an urban operations exercise within the military housing units there.

The Fusiliers will be training to conduct vehicle check points, building searches, as well as interacting with a number of civilian players who will be participating in the exercise. All exercises will take part of Department of National Defence property.
