UPDATE APARTMENT FIRE - 20 DAWN STREET, HALIFAX

(Monday, February 21/05) --

1) Residents evacuated from an apartment building at 15 Dawn Street were expected to return to their homes by late morning.

2) residents evacuated from an apartment building at 16 Dawn Street are expected to be able to return to their homes by the end of the day. Power re-connections are underway.

3) residents of 20 Dawn Street, where a fire broke out yesterday morning forcing tenants to be evacuated (along with those from nearby buildings) at 15 and 16 Dawn Street, are scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. today at the Salvation Army Building in Fairview. Nova Scotia Community services and other agencies are expected to attend that meeting as well.

HRM's EMO service is no longer involved in the temporary re-location of tenants. Fire officials are continuing their investigation of the fire at 20 Dawn Street.
