Annual Clam Harbour Beach Sandcastle Competition
Thursday, August 16, 2012 (Halifax, NS) - On Sunday, Aug. 19, Clam Harbour Beach Provincial Park will host the 34th Annual Clam Harbour Beach Sandcastle Competition. Each year, the event attracts over 10,000 residents and visitors to the Lake Charlotte area of HRM.
Improved signage, more parking opportunities and a complimentary shuttle service to and from the beach along Clam Harbour Road will contribute to an even more enjoyable experience for both contestants and spectators.
Contestants can compete in three categories: Adult, Youth and Children under 12. Prizes will be awarded for best sandcastles, best sand sculptures and a People’s Choice award. Guest sculptor, Ben Waterman of Prince Edward Island, will be creating a showcase sandcastle.
Schedule:
9 a.m. Park gates open/ registration starts
9:30 a.m. Shuttle bus service starts
2:30 p.m. Judging begins
4 p.m. Awarding of prizes
6:30 p.m Shuttle service stops
Food and refreshments can be purchased on site at the Food Village. Returning this year is the Family Fun Zone at the Park Interpretation Centre, featuring The Discovery Centre, inflatable games, activity area and many other fun exhibits.
