Buses roll Monday morning from Metro Transit's new Bridge Terminal
(Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012) - Metro Transit's new Bridge Terminal opens first thing tomorrow morning.
The terminal is the busiest in Nova Scotia, serving 23,000 passengers each weekday. The new terminal includes 16 accessible bus bays, enabling all passengers to board from the platform, as well as a fully-enclosed passenger waiting area, public washrooms, onsite bicycle storage, and a landscaped green roof.
While the terminal will be fully accessible, the elevator that connects the main waiting area with the upper level pedestrian bridge is awaiting a permit, which should be in place soon.
In the interim, passengers who are not able to use the stairwells should enter the terminal from the sidewalk on the Dartmouth Sportsplex side of the building, which can be accessed from either Thistle Street or Nantucket Avenue. Accessible ramps lead from the sidewalk and onto the platform at each of the marked crossing areas.
Metro Transit regrets any inconvenience caused to its passengers and will advise when the elevator is in operation.
