Central Library Activity - Archaeological work, fencing
and tree removal scheduled
Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 (Halifax, NS) – Work at the new Central Library site will pick up next week.
On Monday, Sept. 10, crews will begin the realignment of the existing fence that encloses the area to allow for the next phase of archaeological work. Archaeologist consultant, In Situ, will continue into the next phase of work and is scheduled to begin on September 17.
A tree at the corner of Spring Garden Road and Queen Street is scheduled to be removed from the site a day or two after the fence work begins. The tree, an Austrian Pine, was scheduled to be removed last year but was left untouched at the time to accommodate a bird’s nest.
Development of the Central Library will include the installation of new landscaping throughout the property. The landscaping plan will include healthy new trees, vegetation and green space.
Construction activity on the Central Library is expected to be completed spring/summer 2014. More information about the Central Library is available at halifaxcentrallibrary.ca.
