Give away weekend opportunity for spring cleaners and treasure hunters

(Wednesday, June 6, 2012) - Time to de-clutter your home? HRM wants to help.

The region is hosting its third annual spring Curbside Give Away Weekend, June 9 and 10.

By taking your unwanted but reusable items to the curb, they could become someone else's treasure. Simply place a "FREE" sign on the items to ensure there is no confusion. Treasure hunters can remove items with a "FREE" sign but should remember to respect others' property when participating.

Remaining treasures must be brought back in by dusk Sunday, June 10. You can also consider contacting non-profit organizations that take such items as part of their fundraising efforts so the items can be carted away.

Examples of treasures to set out for the Give Away include books, CDs and DVDs, furniture and small appliances, sports equipment, toys, tools, and construction materials.
