Emera Oval to officially open on Christmas Day for

2012/2013 skating season

 

Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 (Halifax, NS) – HRM is pleased to advise residents that the Emera Oval will officially open tomorrow, Dec.25, from 2 – 4 p.m., for the first public skate of the 2012/13 season.

Public skates will be held daily as ice and weather conditions allow. Visit skatehrm.ca for public skating hours, special event information, condition updates, and to view a calendar of Oval programs. Call the Oval Information Line at 490-2347 or follow SkateHRM on Facebook and Twitter for schedule changes.

A family event will be held at the Oval on New Year’s Eve featuring afternoon and evening skating, free face painting, live music, and fireworks. Visit www.halifax.ca/SkateHRM/SpecialEvents/index.html for more event details.

The Emera Oval is the largest artificial ice surface east of Quebec. A CSA-approved multi-impact helmet is required for children 12 and under and encouraged for all others. Free skate and helmet lending is available on-site.
