HRM to exercise emergency preparedness

Tuesday, June 26, 2012 – HRM would like to advise residents and members of the media that it will be conducting an exercise on emergency preparedness during the morning hours of Wednesday, June 27. If media hear increased scanner traffic of an emergency nature, it could be as a result of this exercise.

HRM and Canadian Forces Base Halifax will participate in a disaster training exercise for nuclear safety preparation in a simulated setting at HRM’s emergency measures office, 21 Mount Hope Ave. in Dartmouth.  These exercises are carried out on a regular basis to establish clear and coordinated plans for emergency response.

Please note: HRM Public Affairs will be participating in this exercise and will have limited availability to respond to media inquiries during the morning hours of Wednesday, June 27.
