Holiday solid waste collection and processing

 

Thursday, December 20, 2012 (Halifax, NS) - HRM residents are advised that there will be no municipal solid waste collection services provided on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Collection of garbage, organics or recyclables normally scheduled for Christmas Day will be provided on the preceding Saturday, December 22, 2012.

There will also be no municipal garbage, organics or recyclables collection services on New Year’s Day, Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Collection services for that day will be provided on the preceding Saturday, December 29, 2012.

Municipal solid waste collection services will occur as regularly scheduled on December 24, December 26 (Boxing Day), December 31 and January 2.

The Otter Lake Waste Processing and Disposal Facility, the two composting facilities and the HRM Recycling Plant at 20 Horseshoe Lake Drive will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, but will be open on Saturday, December 22 and Saturday, December 29 with normal operating hours. The Otter Lake Facility will also be closed Sunday, December 30.

HRM’s residential Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Depot will be closed Saturday, December 22 and Saturday, December 29, but will be open Saturday, January 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
