HRM reaches new three-year collective agreement with

NSUPE Local 13 workers

Wednesday, June 27, 2012 (Halifax, NS) – Regional Council yesterday ratified a new three-year collective agreement with members of Nova Scotia Union of Public and Private Employees (NSUPE) Local 13, successfully concluding several months of negotiation between the HRM and union bargaining teams.

NSUPE Local 13 members represent approximately 730 inside workers employed in 169 professional, technical and administrative classifications throughout HRM.

The new agreement, which expires October 31, 2014, represents a fiscally responsible contract that provides two per cent annual wage increases in each of the three years for all members plus minor adjustments to specific wage scales, and Collective Agreement changes that will help contain costs into the future and provide for flexibility and efficient use of resources as operations evolve.

NSUPE Local 13 members had been without a contract since November 1, 2011.
