Emera Oval to host a family event on New Year's Eve
Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 (Halifax, NS) –HRM is inviting you to bring your family out to the Emera Oval on New Year's Eve for a spectacular afternoon and evening of skating, free face painting, live music, and fireworks.
Kicking off the music show at 5 p.m. is the Regional Tri-Service Cadet Band, bringing you the talents of 30 brass and 10 pipe and drum youth musicians. Local Big Band heroes, the Jubilee Swing Orchestra, will be fronted by none other than four-time Music Nova Scotia Award winning artist, Carmen Townsend, for a performance from 7 - 9 p.m. HRM's early evening fireworks display hits the skies at 7:45 p.m.

4-6 p.m. Public Skate with freeface painting
5-6 p.m. Cadets Canada, Regional Cadet Tri Service Band
6:30-7 p.m. Swing Dance Instruction by the Dalhousie Swing Dance Society
7-9 p.m. Public Skate with free face painting
7-9 p.m. Jubilee Swing Orchestra featuring Carmen Townsend
7:45 p.m. Fireworks

The Emera Oval is the largest artificial ice surface east of Quebec. A CSA-approved multi-impact helmet is required for children 12 and under and encouraged for all others. Free skate and helmet lending is available on-site.
