Operations underway with snow in forecast; motorists urged to be cautious
Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 (Halifax, NS) - With the first snowfall expected today, crews have begun anti-icing operations and will ramp up throughout the afternoon as conditions warrant.
Motorists are asked to adjust their speed for conditions and residents are asked to remove any basketball or hockey nets from the street as they can interfere with snow clearing operations.
While the overnight winter parking ban doesn’t take effect until December 15, residents are reminded that vehicles parked on the road interfering with snow removal operations are subject to being ticketed and/or towed under Section 139 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
This year, HRM is offering residents the option to subscribe to notifications letting them know when the overnight winter parking ban will be enforced. Residents can subscribe to our CityWatch program to receive phone and email messages by emailing citywatch@halifax.ca or by calling 490-7403.
