Road work will continue on Lower Water Street at Sackville Street

Thursday, June 21, 2012 - Halifax Water crews working on the sewer line repair on Lower Water Street will not complete work until tomorrow. The lane drop on Lower Water Street and the closure on Sackville Street will remain in effect throughout the evening rush hour. Once today's work is complete, the site will be barricaded and signed accordingly. The lane drop on Lower Water Street will remain in effect, however Sackville Street and all crosswalks should be open.

Crews will be back on site tomorrow morning. Sackville Street will be closed from Bedford Row to Lower Water Street and Lower Water Street will be reduced to one lane northbound. The marked crosswalk at the north side of the intersection will be closed once again, however traffic control personnel will be at the south side of the intersection to assist pedestrians across the street away from the excavation. Work is expected to be complete before 4 p.m.

HRM and Halifax Water apologize for any inconvenience these delays may cause. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes if possible. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
