Metro Transit urges Access-A-Bus users to call ahead to book transportation to specialist appointments

(Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012) - As Metro Transit begins limited Access-A-Bus services tomorrow morning, registered users who may have booked the service prior to the strike to attend a specialist appointment are asked to verify their booking.

As specialist appointments are often made months in advance, there may be Access-A-Bus clients who had booked their ride prior to the Feb. 2 beginning of the strike. These users are asked to call the booking line at 490-6999 to confirm their travel plan, seven days before a specialist appointment.

Access-A-Bus is only offering its service at this time to registered users who require transportation to and from medical and specialist appointments.

Access-A-Bus service is a shared ride, door-to-door, transit service for persons who are unable to use the conventional transit system due to physical or cognitive disabilities and are declared eligible through a registration process

The Access-A-Bus service is meant to supplement Metro Transit's fixed route system.
