HRM Closes Off-Leash Area of Park in Bedford

Friday, March 16, 2012 – Mild winter temperatures and rain events have led to the early closure of an off-leash area of park in Bedford.

Effectively immediately, the Robert and Joan Lenihan Memorial Ball Diamonds off-leash area at Range Park in Bedford is closed for repairs. The field is in poor condition and the early closure will allow time for the turf to recover in the spring and for HRM to make necessary repairs in time for the upcoming baseball season.

HRM’s remaining 27 off-leash sports fields are scheduled to remain open until May 1. However, it is recommended that dog owners refrain from using the fields in wet weather. Turf damage at this time of year can result in costly and lengthy repairs as well as delays for the many sports teams that rely on our fields to be open this summer.
