HRM’s Overnight Winter
Parking Ban Remains In Effect
Friday, March 2, 2012 – HRM is advising residents
that the overnight winter parking ban will remain in effect overnight tonight
from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. (Saturday, March 3) and will remain in effect until
further notice. Crews still need to complete the clearing of side streets where
cars were parked and to ensure all catch basins are free of snow in advance of
tomorrow’s heavy rainfall forecast. Please ensure your vehicle is off the street
and not interfering with operations.
The weather and snow clearing
operations will dictate how long the overnight ban will remain in effect. HRM
will notify residents when it has been lifted through Public Service
Announcements, halifax.ca, 490-4000 and you can follow us on Twitter “@hfxgov”.
Provincial legislation (Section 139 of the Motor Vehicle
Act) provides that people remove their vehicles from the streets, day or night,
in the event of a snow or ice event. Vehicles obstructing snow removal or winter
maintenance operations can be removed at the owner’s cost, regardless of time or
date.
HRM requests that residents remove any street obstructions
whenever possible during snow clearing operations. Items such as basketball nets
and organic green carts hinder proper snow clearing and can result in damage to
property and equipment.
HRM thanks you for your cooperation.
