Western Region Residents to Discuss Road Conditions
(Thursday, January 14/99)-- Residents in the western region of Halifax Regional Municipality are expected to attend a meeting this evening at the Prospect Road Elementary School to discuss road conditions in their area.
The meeting has been called by District 18 Councillor Stephen Adams (Spryfield/Herring Cove) who is concerned about road maintenance and ice and snow control efforts in the Harriettsfield/Williamswood area of his District.
Councillor Adams is proposing that HRM's Regional Services' crews takeover responsibility for road maintenance and snow/ ice clearing on the Harriettsfield Road, from the intersection of Leiblin Drive, to the community of Sambro. The Nova Scotia Department of Transportation is currently responsible for that portion of roadway.
The Councillor suggests those Department of Transportation crews be transferred from the Harriettsfield/Williamswood area to the Prospect Road , to augment DoT maintenance and snow/control services in those communities.
