HRM Co-Sponsors Panel Discussion on Race Relations
(Wednesday, March 17/99)-- A panel discussion in support of the International Day for the Elimination of Racism and Racial Discrimination will be held this Friday in Halifax Hall, City Hall.
Sponsored by the Halifax Regional Municipality and the Halifax Regional School Board, the topic of discussion will be "What should our non-racist society look like--where are we, and what needs to be done?"
Panelists include Patricia Doyle-Bedwell, Director, Transition Year Program, Dalhousie University; Jeanne Fay, Community Legal Worker, Dalhousie Legal Aid Service; Roberto Garay, Community Worker, Metropolitan Immigrant Settlement Association; and Vicki Samuels, Coordinator, Race Relations and Affirmative Action, Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission.
Moderator will be Dr. Don Trider, Superintendent, Halifax Regional School Board.
Members of the media are invited to attend.
