Stop Work Order Lifted on construction of Apartment Complex located on Bedford Highway at Prince's Lodge

News Release

(Friday, August 4/2000)-- Halifax Regional Municipality lifted a Stop Work Order this afternoon on construction of an apartment building located at Prince's Lodge on the Bedford Highway. A Stop Work Order had been issued last Friday because the building was being built on two lots and it appeared that a portion of the building was on land zoned R-1 (which does not permit apartment buildings).

The builder has now met the requirements of the subdivision and land use by-laws by consolidating their properties as one lot. As a result the building is now properly located on one lot. A review of all relevant property and zoning information has led to the determination that the entire building is located in the correct zone. The building complies with all municipal requirements.
