(Friday, October 13/2000)-- The findings of an independent, external audit of the expenditures of the District 23 recreation area rate, capital funds and discretionary funds will be presented in open Council at the October 17^th meeting of the Halifax Regional Council. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.

Regional Council approved the following motion, moved by Councillor Jack Greenough, at its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 3, 2000:

"I move that independent outside auditors be hired to examine the expenditures and supporting documentation charged to District 23 recreation area rate, capitals funds, and discretionary funds;

• To determine compliance with H-R-M policies and provincial legislation;
• To advise of any recommendation regarding further action required;
• And, without restricting the generality of the foregoing, to specifically recommend as to whether council should request an inquiry pursuant to the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act.
