Motorists to Expect Delays on Bedford Highway

(Tuesday, October 17/2000)-- Motorists travelling the Bedford Highway during regular business hours can expect traffic delays for the next two weeks due road construction.

HRM has been advised by the project contractor, Dexter Construction, that crews will be working on the section of the Bedford Highway, from the Kearney Lake Road to the new Larry Uteck Boulevard (near the entrance to the Bluenose Motel).

Work will include some asphalt milling; road patching; installation of new curb on the west inbound side of the Bedford Highway, approaching Kearney Lake Road; asphalt overlay on this complete section of the Bedford Highway; and shoulder restoration.

Traffic will be impacted and restricted to one lane from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for much of this two week period. The work must be done before the cold weather sets in.

HRM apologizes for any inconvenience caused to the motoring public as a result of this construction.
