Citizens Urged to Serve on HRM Boards, Commissions
(Monday, November 27/2000)-- Mayor Peter Kelly today urged citizens of the Halifax Regional Municipality to consider volunteering to serve on its many boards, committees and commissions.
Mayor Kelly said there are a number of vacancies now and many more will be coming available soon as current terms begin to expire.
In order to allow as many citizens as possible to apply and to encourage broad representation on HRM boards, committees and commissions, the deadline for applications has been extended until Friday, December 15, 2000.
In addition to those of Regional Council, residents may also apply to serve on a number of committees established under HRM's Community Councils.
For further information about volunteering to serve on municipal boards, committees and commissions, residents are asked to contact the Office of the Municipal Clerk at 490-4210.
