Public Service Announcement

(Monday, January 22/2001)-- Motorists and vehicle owners are reminded that vehicles must be parked off-street during winter clean-up operations following a storm, or their vehicle could be ticketed and towed.

The provincial Motor Vehicles Act clearly states that vehicles must be parked off-street not only when it is snowing or when there are freezing (ice) conditions, but also immediately following a storm or at any other time when snow-clearing or salting operations are required.

Section 139 (1) Notwithstanding Section 138, no person wilfully shall park or leave standing a vehicle whether attended or unattended, upon a highway or any part thereof in such manner that it might interfere with or obstruct snow removal or winter maintenance operations on the highway.
