(Wednesday, January 24/2001)-- Due to the large turnout expected for a public meeting being organized tomorrow night for the 370 tenants left homeless by the recent fire at 36 Abbey Road, the location of the meeting has been changed.
The meeting will be held Thursday, January 25, 2001 in the Multi-Purpose Room, of the Captain William Spry Centre, 10 Kidston Road, Spryfield, beginning at 8 p.m.
(The location of the meeting had previously been set for the Community Room, the new Sobey's Store, 279 Herring Cove Road.)
The purpose of the meeting, being organized by District 17 Councillor Linda Mosher and the recently-formed Armdale Tenants Association, is to update those left homeless by the apartment building fire last week about dealings with the landlord, Top O' the Mountain Developments, and the Province of Nova Scotia.
Councillor Mosher has invited Community Services Minister Peter Christie and the Honourable Angus MacIsaac, Minister Responsible for the Residential Tenancies Act, to attend the public meeting.
Victor Goldberg, the lawyer acting for the landlord, has agreed to attend the meeting.
