Illegal to Dump Snow/Ice on Streets, HRM Property
(Wednesday, February 7, 2001)-- Residents of Halifax Regional Municipality are reminded that it is illegal to dump snow on streets/roads and adjacent municipally-owned property.
Such action is in violation of article 4 (2) of Part 1, respecting Removal of Snow and Ice from Sidewalks in By-law S-300.
It reads: 4 (2) No person shall deposit snow or ice on the traveled way of any street
Violations of this nature interfere with HRM's snow and ice operations. They are also a source of aggravation to the motoring public and may interfere with regular traffic flow.
Violators face a $50 ticket.
