Public Input Invited Into 2001/2002 Capital/Operating Budget

(Sunday, February 25/2001-- Halifax Regional Council is inviting public input into the proposed 2001/2002 Operating and Capital Budget.

Ads are being published in both daily newspapers today, Monday and Tuesday-- advising the public where copies of the draft document may be viewed and urging citizens to pass along their thoughts and comments to HRM regarding the proposed expenditures.

The proposed 2001/2002 Capital and Operating Budget will be tabled at a regular meeting of Halifax Regional Council on Tuesday, February 27, 2001, beginning at 6 p.m. Council meetings are broadcast by Shaw Community Cable television on Channel 10.

Copies of the draft Budget will be available for viewing by the public at all HRM Storefront locations and all branches of the Halifax Regional Library system on Wednesday, February 28, 2001. Also, the draft document will be available for viewing on the HRM website at www.halifax.ca

Halifax Regional Council will review and debate the proposed Budget at a series of afternoon sessions during the week of March 5-9 in the Council Chambers, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., City Hall, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax. The public is invited to attend these sessions.

Should members of the public wish to express their views on the proposed 2001/2002 Budget in whole, or in part, they are encouraged to do so through written submissions to Members of Halifax Regional Council. Submissions may be forwarded to the Office of the Municipal Clerk, 4th Floor, City Hall, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax, N.S. B3J 3A5 or by Fax (902) 490-4208 or through the HRM website at www.halifax.ca
