Annual Clean-Up Campaign a Huge Success

Friday, July 20/2001)-- The Mayor's annual Community Clean-up campaign was a success again this year.

Thirty-one groups, representing more than 1,500 individuals, participated in the clean-up campaign in areas throughout the municipality.

Mayor Kelly said "These community clean-up efforts were not confined to the urban areas alone. There was widespread interest in this program throughout the region and this demonstrates the tremendous pride that our citizens have in our community."

For the first time, citizens wanting to participate in the clean-up campaign were able to register on-line at the HRM website ( www.halifax.ca). Once again, the municipal Customer Service Centers were instrumental in distributing clean-up supplies and the HRM Corporate Call Center responded to information inquiries and registered participants by phone.

The Mayor extended thanks on behalf of Members of Halifax Regional Council to all of the individuals and groups who took part in the anti-litter effort.
