Update # 4 - Highway 103 Ramp Re-Opened

(Friday, August 10/2001)-- 1:30 P.M.- Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service crews are downsizing operations at the site of a forest fire in woods at the top of Main Avenue in Fairview. The fire broke out late afternoon on Wednesday.

The fire remains under control (no visible flames) but firefighters continue to soak hot spots with water/ foam and remain on alert in the event of any flare-ups.

As a result, the ramp from Highway 103 connecting with Highway 102 outbound (leading towards Bedford and the airport) will be re-opened to motorists at 3:00 PM this afternoon.

(Fire apparatus had been located on the ramp for the past two days to enable firefighters to attack the fire on that front)
