Poor Water Quality Closes Kidston Lake

(Friday, August 24/2001) - Please be advised that the Nova Scotia Department of the Environment has ordered Kidston Lake in Spryfield closed to swimmers due to high bacteria levels, effective immediately.

Other HRM supervised beaches still currently closed are:

Big Albro - Dartmouth

Penhorn Lake - Dartmouth

The Department of the Environment performs water quality testing for the Halifax Regional Municipality and has ordered the closure of other HRM supervised beaches from time to time this summer because of high bacteria counts.

(Eds Note: Media inquiries regarding testing methods and water quality should be directed to the Nova Scotia Department of the Environment.)
