Environmental Law-Reformer, Author to Give Workshops in HRM
(Monday, March 18/2002)-- British Columbia author Carole Rubin will be in Halifax Regional Municipality this week to present several workshops on lawn and garden care without the use of cosmetic pesticides.
The workshops are co-sponsored by the Halifax Regional Library and HRM Parks and Recreation Services.
These Sessions will be offered at the following branches of the Halifax Regional Library:
Alderney Gate Public Library - Tuesday, March 19, 7 p.m.
Sackville Public Library - Wednesday, March 20, 7 p.m.
Spring Garden Road Library - Thursday, March 21, 7 p.m.
Ms. Rubin, who authored, "How to get your lawn and garden off drugs" has an extensive background in environmental law reform, and chaired and coordinated the Federal Pesticide Registration Review's Environmental Caucus. Her book, first published in 1989, has become a clarion call for more environmentally responsible lawn and garden care across North America.
Her latest book, "How to get your lawn off grass," which is to be released shortly, talks about a more diversified, sustainable property.
Ms. Rubin will be available for media interviews through the day, Tuesday to Friday of this week.
