RCMP Vehicles Have a New Look

(Tuesday, March 26/2002)-- RCMP cruisers and other vehicles used for policing within the Halifax Regional Municipality are getting a new look--- HRM's corporate logo has been added to the distinctive identification package on the vehicles.

Mayor Peter Kelly and Superintendent Stan Ferguson, Officer-in-Charge of RCMP Halifax Detachment, applied a decal bearing the municipality's corporate logo this morning to the first RCMP vehicle to be so marked.

It is believed this is the first time that the RCMP has ever included a municipal corporate logo on its vehicle identification package.

Mayor Kelly said "A large portion of the Halifax Regional Municipality is policed by the RCMP, so it is only fitting that their vehicles bear our logo. It is included on vehicle markings for Halifax Regional Police, so we are pleased that the RCMP has taken this initiative to include the HRM logo on its vehicles."

Superintendent Ferguson said "We are proud to be a partner with Halifax Regional Police in providing service to the HRM and are pleased to feature the Halifax Regional Municipal Logo as part of our commitment. "

Decals bearing the HRM logo will be applied in the next few weeks to 44 RCMP cruisers and other police vehicles used in the municipality.
