New Traffic Signals at Busy Intersection

(Wednesday, October 2/2002)-- Mayor Peter Kelly and District 16 Councillor Diana Whalen (Rockingham-Clayton Park West) will officially start-up the new "Half Signal" crosswalk signals at one of the busiest intersections in the Kearney Lake area tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Representatives from the local school and resident's association will also be in attendance at the ceremony, to be held at the intersection of the Kearney Lake Road, at Castlehill Road and Broadholme Lane.

The new signals on the busy Kearney Lake Road will maintain a continuous "green" display until activated by a pedestrian pushing a button at the curb. Motorists will then be required to comply with the typical red, amber and green signal display. Motorists on side streets will continue to comply with Stop signs and wait for gaps in traffic flow before entering the intersection.

When: Thursday, October 3, 2002

Where: Kearney Lake Road at Castlehill Road intersection

Time: 10 a.m.
