Halifax Woman Donates Tree in Memory of Late Sister
(Wednesday, November 13/2002)--- A Halifax woman is donating a Christmas tree to the residents of Halifax Regional Municipality in memory of her late sister, who planted the tree about 50 years ago at their family home in Armdale.
Mary E. (Betty) Graham, retired after 38 years of service with the Royal Bank of Canada, is donating the 45-foot blue spruce in memory of her sister, Jean Graham, who was a 43-year employee of BMO Nesbitt Burns in Halifax.
The tree, which has a trunk diameter of 18 inches, is located on a property near the intersection of the Herring Cove Road and Windermere Road, between the Armdale Rotary and Chocolate Lake.
The tree will be erected in Grand Parade and the official tree lighting will take place on Saturday, November 23rd, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
An HRM crew will be taking down the tree this Friday (November 15th) at 8:15 a.m. (Weather Permitting)
The address is 7 Herring Cove Road. (There is a stone wall and iron gate that reads Windermere)
