Students Develop Website Regarding Halifax Explosion

(Wednesday, December 4/2002)-- A partnership between students at Prince Andrew High School and the municipality's Tourism, Culture and Heritage officials has resulted in a new website containing information about the Halifax Explosion.

Deputy Mayor Harry McInroy will be on hand at the Dartmouth high school tomorrow to officially accept the website on behalf of Halifax Regional Council. The web address for the project is www.Halifaxexplosion.org

During the past year, the Social Studies Department at Prince Andrew High has been developing a partnership with HRM's Tourism, Culture and Heritage business unit. The Grades 11 and 12 history students are providing research and skills on a number of projects. These include development of a number of websites, which will be officially launched as they are completed and handed over to the municipality. Each will represent over $5000 in value to the HRM and will be a testament to the student's contribution to the community.
