Three Local Heroes to be Honoured
(Monday, December 9/2002)-- Halifax Regional Council will present special commendations Tuesday evening to the three local residents who are credited with saving the lives of a 37-year-old mother and her four-year-old son.
Mayor Peter Kelly, on behalf of Regional Council, will present special "Recognition of Heroic Effort" certificates to Paddy Hilchie, Jeff Winters and Mark Hoadley at the start of the regular meeting of Halifax Regional Council tomorrow evening at 6 p.m.
The three men are credited with rescuing Shelley Yates and her son, Evan Grace, after their vehicle left the Rocky Lake Road last month and became submerged in the freezing waters of a nearby lake.
